Kyle, Jeff & Bryan endure the two-hour talk-o-rama that was…the live listener party!!

Holy smokes, today was cuh-ray-zay! I hope everyone listening still had a good time even though the chatroom was a no-go. I’m officially on the lookout for an off-site chatroom that people can join since my hosting seems to be getting lamer and lamer. Onto splendid news, we were actually able to make the show happen for most people…huzzah!

Just like last year, I started things off with a set of pre-roll music and audio, including some gems like Godzilla vs Amphibion, which is sort of like an old radio serial and what I was told is/was/could be the audio from the San Diego Comic Con teaser trailer for Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla (I have my own doubts, but it was still kind of cool). I also threw in some cool tracks that I like, such as Bobby “Fatboy” Roberts’ remix of Roar from Cloverfield and the Surf Coasters’ cover of the Ultra Q intro. Plus, we played a handful of music during the show itself.

We spoke with Ed Holland and Mike Keller from Monster Attack Team Magazine about the magazine, Famous Monsters and their upcoming convention A-Kon appearance. Make sure you check out their awesome work and keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates and news! When I drove to Hood River to pick up the prizes from ToyFreakz, I recorded an interview with owner David Oaks and talked to him about what it’s like to set up a shop and work with Japanese manufacturers to create store exclusives. Last but not least, kaiju-artist extraordinaire Matt Frank joined us again to talk about his amazing time in Tokyo, making us all just a little more jealous!

Then there were the coveted prize packs, literally hundreds of dollars worth of stuff! Some of the highlights in the collections were Y-MSF Gabara figures from ToyFreakz, Godzilla vs. Biollante on Blu-Ray, prints courtesy of Matt Frank, Godzilla trade paperbacks from Things From Another World and the San Diego Comic Con exclusive SH Monsterarts Godzilla figure! There was a lot more, including some pieces from my personal collection.

All in all, it was a lot of fun and we are definitely doing it again in 2014 for the Kaijucast’s 5th anniversary!
