02.11.2013: Godzilla Topic Multi-ball!

Heather, Kyle & Jeff are finally back together after a long stint of not being able to all record together to just talk about Godzilla.

Heather, Kyle & Jeff are finally back together after a long stint of not being able to all record together to just talk about Godzilla.

It had been so long since Heather, Jeff and I had been able to get together that I was thrilled to just throw a topic request out to the fans on Facebook. Said topics included discussion about the direction of the podcast, our top five from the tops of our heads, toy discussions, comics, speculation on Godzilla’s future with both Legendary Pictures and Toho, plus a lot more. Major thanks to the active folks on the Kaijucast facebook page for the easily mined subject matter!

Just a heads up, this episode also took a somber note from the Mediocre Show – one of the podcasts I listen to on a regular basis- by paying posthumous tribute to some people and animals who have had an effect on us and recently left this plane of existence. It wasn’t a pleasant or happy thing, but loss affects everyone and we felt it was more than appropriate to toast those who are no longer with us. Now!… on to more entertaining items – if you are interested in any of the music we played during this episode, here is this episode’s track listing:

MUSIC:
1. Main Title by Masaru Satoh from Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster (1967)
2. Smoldering Fury by Trevor Duncan from The Great War (but also used in Ghidrah, the Three-Headed Monster)
3. Self Defense Forces March 2 by Reijiro Koroku from Godzilla 1985 (1984)
4. Rise From The Sea by Big Pimp Jones from Kodoja (2012)
5. Prayer of the MU Empire from Bukimisha Weird Secret Society ‘s album GOUKAI Na GOJIRA (GODZILLA) (2000)
6. The Escape From Godzilla by Ko Otani from Godzilla · Mothra · King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack (2001)

DAIKAIJU DISCUSSION HOMEWORK:
The most shocking name in two million years! Never a horror like it! Thundering out of unknown skies – the super-sonic hell-creature no weapon could destroy! As reported in the last episode, this month’s film for our Daikaiju Discussion is the 1956 solo (sort of) kaiju entry, Rodan! If you choose to submit your homework, the due date is February 21st – which is our recording date, so there’s no wiggle room on this one. The earlier you turn it in, the better, too! Please use our spiffy Contact form to send in your thoughts, questions & reviews!
