This has been a pretty big week for Godzilla fans! The MUTO Research Viral website was launched AND the first official teaser trailer for Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla was finally and OFFICIALLY released. So because we are a podcast, it was inevitable that we would talk about it, and it’s been a while since we have had a current events episode… so my cohost Jeff Dead (who I hadn’t seen since before we went to Japan) came over to talk about these recent developments with Legendary Pictures new king-of-the-monsters movie. Once again, be prepared for some nerd-tastic conversation as we discuss the known aspects of the MUTO site and what you can do with it. Plus, we spoke at length about the teaser trailer in all of it’s glory.

Because the episode itself is basically a news-centric podcast, we only have a few links to share, but check them out if they are up your alley. More important than the linked SciFi Japan articles are the upcoming events, so make sure to check those out – especially Kirk Von Hammett’s Fear FestEvil in San Francisco; both Haruo Nakajima (the man in the Godzilla suit from 1954 – 1972) and Bin Furuya (the man in the Ultraman suit during it’s original 1966 series) will be in attendance!

Our final Daikaiju Discussion of 2013 is another film celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. Atragon (1963) is one of Toho’s best tokusatsu flims and a personal favorite of mine. As I mentioned last month, the Media Blasters/Tokyo Shock DVD release of this film has unfortunately fallen prey to the extremely overinflated tertiary market prices and I don’t condone paying that much – it’s information-superhighway robbery, I tell ya! Anyway, please make sure to send in your Daikaiju Discussion homework (aka your thoughts, questions & reviews) before December 23rd to be included in the next discussion. I look forward to reading your reviews!
