05.23.2014: Godzilla 2014 Daikaiju Discussion (part 1)

Godzilla Daikaiju Discussion

Martin, Bryan, Jeff, Kyle & Heather talk at length about the new Godzilla film from Legendary Pictures.

**SPOILER ALERT * SPOILER ALERT * SPOILER ALERT **

This episode/our daikaiju discussion is absolutely NOT for anyone who hasn’t seen Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla. We go into a details about the film that will almost definitely spoil parts of the film for you, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, what are you waiting for??? Go support Godzilla!

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I want to make sure everyone knows that no matter how much time we spend on the things that bothered us (think of it as trying to pinpoint its failures) we all really enjoyed the film. As stated in the podcast, I’ve seen the film four times already and I know for a fact that I’ll continue to see the movie. Hopefully you enjoyed it and are planning to support it through the coming weeks.

This is a pretty long episode – clocking in at just under two hours and without any listener homework (see below). Make sure to check the links in the show notes for the articles that were brought up during the podcast – especially the kickstarter campaigns if that’s your kind of thing. I’m positive that the Kaijucast is going to drop some change for that Rifftrax GINO – I just have to figure out which one. Damn, that performance will blow our Drunken Commentary out of the water!

MUSIC DE LOS MONSTROS:
1. Mothra by Anvil from Metal On Metal (1982)
2. Godzilla March by Susumu Ishikawa from Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972)
3. Godzilla (2014) Official Trailer Audio
4. SY-3 Sortie by Akira Ifukube from Destroy All Monsters (1968)
5. Godzilla’s Victory by Alexandre Desplat from Godzilla (2014)

DAIKAIJU DISCUSSION:
My predictions were correct! “What prediction?” you ask. Well I knew that this new film was going to shatter the previous record for amount of homework turned in. That’s the exact reason this discussion is broken up into two episodes. All of the homework will comprise the discussion for the next episode (to be released next week).
